FIRST POWER UP℠ is played on a 27 ft. by 54 ft. field. The game involves two alliances of three teams each. Each alliance scores power cubes and activates power ups with the end goal being to defeat the boss!
Each match begins with a 15-second autonomous period in which robots operate only on pre-programmed instructions. During this period, robots work to cross the auto line, and tip the scale and switch in their favor.
During the remaining 2 minutes and 15 seconds of the match, the teleoperated period, student drivers control robots. Teams on each alliance work to place power cubes on the switches and scales to tip them in their favor. Each second these field elements are tipped in the alliance’s favor, a point is awarded. Cubes can also be placed in the vault to activate power ups which can add multipliers to scores, change who controls a switch/lever, and count robots as climbing.
